 Learning from the River

 A Fundraiser

Raising Money for the Tributaries Scholarship

Patagonia Store, downtown Toronto, April 1st

Headwaters is excited to host our Learning from the River fundraiser at the Patagonia Store in downtown Toronto on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026.

All donations and proceeds from the Learning from the River event go toward the Tributaries Fund, our scholarship program which supports students with financial need in joining our high school credit canoe trips. The 2026 trip is a month-long journey down the famous Missinaibi River, where students will earn three high school credits. For more information about the trip which this scholarship supports, paddle over to our trip webpage.

As a new initiative, for 2026, we're looking forward to launching the Tributaries Fund and providing young people of promise with life-changing educational experiences. Join us as we celebrate the joys of canoe tripping, the impact of education, and the life-long benefits of powerful experiences in the natural world.

It has been said that "what gives each person his or her personal identity is that person's private store of recollections. If so, then people should be careful curators of the assortment of memories that they collect over the years."

~ John Locke, Kathleen Dean Moore

Memories make us who we are – the experiences and ideas that are powerful enough to remember are the ones which come to form the character of our lives.
